After a decade of building custom technology for clients such as The Telegraph, Discovery and HSBC, Zephr was founded in 2018 by James Henderson and Chris Scott. Throughout their careers, James and Chris had seen the same problem again and again. Commercial teams were unable to build, test and improve personalised trial, sell and upsell customer subscription journeys without damaging technical teams’ ability to remain flexible.
James and Chris knew that by harmonising the relationship between commercial and technical teams, both can be empowered to focus on what matters most. They raised $3M in funding in 2018 to build Zephr, and then raised another $8M in 2020 on the back of huge success. Today, Zephr operates out of London and New York, with employees representing all corners of the world, and serves a host of international digital publishing and media brands by enabling them to create dynamic experiences for their customers.
